The Kathie and Chris Lawler Foundation of the Alive in Hope Foundation of the Diocese of Brooklyn held its annual dinner at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston on Friday, February 3, 2012. This year, the honorees were Msgr. Vincent A. Keane, '52, who served at Cathedral Prep, Brooklyn, as Prefect of Students, History and Religion teacher from 1959-1963 and Cathedral Prep, Elmhurst, from 1963-1979 as Rector-Principal (1974-1979), Prefect of Students and Spiritual Director, as well as teaching Religion and History. Msgr. Keane also was pastor of St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor (1980-1988) and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Bayside (1997-2001) and parochial vicar od St. Paschal Baylon (1958-1959). Another generation of Cathedral College students remember Msgr. Keane as Rector of Cathedral Seminary Residence (1988-1997) and Spiritual Director (2001-2006).
Honored posthumously was Msgr. Thomas Donovan, pastor emeritus of Sacred Heart, Bayside.
The Lawler Fund was created to assist retired priests of the Diocese of Brooklyn with their needs.
