Passing of Monsignor John E. Mahoney, Class of 1966 and Faculty Member 1978-1987

 

We regret to inform you of the death of Monsignor John E. Mahoney, ’66, an alum, and a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, who was in residence at the Bishop Mugavero residence for Senior Priests. Monsignor Mahoney was born on October 12, 1946, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 27, 1972, and died Sunday, February 19, 2018, at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens. 

 

Monsignor Mahoney served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of Blessed Sacrament (Brooklyn) , Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament (Bayside), and Our Lady of Fatima (Jackson Heights) as well as Parochial Vi car of Sacred Heart (Glendale), Saint Rose of Lima ( Queens ) , and Our Lady of Fat ima ( Jackson Heights ) . In addition, Msgr. Mahoney also served as Episcopal Vicar of Brooklyn East, and as part of the Faculty of Cathedral Prep Seminary from 1978 to 1987.
